Question:
AFAC to support students in need aims to assist university students through grants and university loans. AFAC seeks to provide cash and in-kind assistance to poor families, and provide strengthening classes and educational program to poor students. Please allow you to answer our question: May zakat funds be paid to Afak Charity for Needy Students, which aims to assist poor university students in their university premiums, as well as poor families?
Answer:
Thank God, prayer and peace are upon our Messenger of Allah
A Zakat may entrust a particular person or persons in handing over Zakat’s money to the poor.
Then if the President of the Society is tasked to distribute his spouses to poor adult students, to hand them money, paying university fees, or tuition expenses, it is fine, as well as if the President of the Society distributes them to poor families and others who may be given zakat.
The payment of zakat to this eligible group of people is undoubtedly highly remunerated, as it has an impact on the dissemination of the country’s useful flag and worship.
Almighty God holds everyone accountable for acting well in accordance with legitimate regulations.
